MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. - A water main break caused serious flooding issues for several stores in Mount Pleasant early Sunday, May 21.
The South Shore Fire Department said the break was reported around 3 a.m. Sunday at the Racine Centre on Washington Avenue. Four stores had more than an inch of water. Rogan Shoes was hit the hardest.
"The owner actually said that this is the worst that they've ever seen," said Lynne Moran, assistant manager at Rogan's Shoes.

"There's quite a few pairs of shoes that are going to be ruined. We're trying to save as much as we can, but you know, all those shoe boxes are cardboard, so when water hits cardboard, your cardboard disintegrates," Moran said.

Despite the damage, Rogan's Shoes says this will not affect employee schedules. Those workers were being given the option to work at other area locations with cleanup underway.
"We have other stores that need a little bit more help, so they have that ability to do that also, so they don't lose out on those hours in pay," Moran said. "We have a good team, so I'm sure that we will bounce back as fast as we can."
