Moving forward: Business Journal reports owners of former Dairyland Greyhound Park looking for buyer
KENOSHA (WITI) -- The owners of the former Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha are putting the property back on the market, the Milwaukee Business Journal is reporting. This, after the Menominee Indian Tribe's option to purchase the property has expired. Governor Walker rejected the Menominee Tribe's plan to build an $800 million Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on the property.
The Milwaukee Business Journal reports the 220-acre property includes the dog track that opened in 1990.
Mike Hallman, treasurer of Dairyland Greyhound Park Inc., told the Business Journal about 200 acres could be developed, and another 20 acres are in wetlands.
The latest assessed value on the Dairyland property was $18.8 million, and it has fluctuated from $21 million in 2010 to $10 million in 2013, according to Kenosha County property records.
"There's no question we can sell it. We don't know for how much, and to whom," Hallman told the Business Journal.
Hallman told the Business Journal the effort to sell the land is in its initial stages, and the property has not yet been listed with a broker.
