MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The wind and cold didn't stop some Milwaukee police officers from hitting the water on Wednesday, March 20th.
The Milwaukee Police Department's Harbor Patrol was doing some ice rescue training exercises.
They say this is all part of scheduled training throughout the year, and the point is to make sure officers are ready for any environment that Mother Nature could bring.
They also say these exercises help make sure everyone is on the same page when a real rescue is needed.
"We have to have some inoperability with other agencies that also do ice rescue training in this area, Coast Guard, Fire Dive -- we all work together. We all train constantly so that we are ready for any emergency that might come along," Daniel Bell said.
The Milwaukee Police Department's Harbor Patrol was put into action over the weekend -- rescuing a dog that was stuck on the ice on the KK River.
