WAUKESHA, Wis. - A Milwaukee Public Schools employee has been accused of sexually assaulting a child in 2023.
The accused is 38-year-old Keelyn Tyler. He faces the following charges:
- Third-degree sexual assault
- Child enticement
Case details
According to a criminal complaint, Tyler is a MPS employee and basketball coach, and he tutors children.

Prosecutors said the alleged crime happened in October 2023. Tyler was the victim’s mentor and tutor from June 2023 to the end of October that year.
The child said Tyler picked him up from school every day and one day in October, he took him to a warehouse that he owned in New Berlin.
Per the complaint, Tyler got upset with the boy and pulled him into the bathroom, pulled his pants down and assaulted him.
After the alleged assault, the child said Tyler asked him, "Do you think anyone will believe you?"
The child’s mother noted she remembered around that time the boy told her he did not want Tyler to mentor him anymore and she remembered seeing bruises on his back.
Tyler has since denied inappropriately touching a child.

According to the complaint, the New Berlin Police Department was notified of the sexual assault investigation at the end of July 2024, as the child eventually addressed the incident to his sister.
Tyler is facing up to 35 years in prison and $125,000 if convicted. He has a preliminary hearing set for Feb. 19.

MPS provided the following statement:
"In accordance with District policy and Federal and State law, the district does not comment on the circumstances of our individual staff members.
MPS takes all matters seriously that impact the well-being, learning, and advancement of our students. All personnel matters are addressed according to district policy."
