‘Hate speech’ flyers show up in more neighborhoods

Mukwonago and Whitewater police are investigating the recent distribution of "hate speech" contained in plastic bags.

People in a Mukwonago neighborhood recently received packages they did not order: weighed down flyers inside sandwich bags with "white power" messages.

Several people in the Orchards subdivision found them outside their driveways over the weekend. This comes just a few days after fake deportation flyers were found across Milwaukee.

People said this is the first time something like this has happened in their neighborhood.

"It's always upsetting to see that," said resident Rick Tell. "We have enough issues with politics and everything else and separating people and families and everything else and that doesn't help."

The Village of Mukwonago Police Department said this is an ongoing investigation. They do not believe any of the homes that received the flyer were specifically targeted.

"It's a festive time of year – to see this, it was supposed to be love, happiness, peace and to see this is just, you know, no need for that," resident Cathy Cottone said.

Residents of Milwaukee's south side said packages targeting immigrants with an intimidating, racist message were found outside homes this week.
