"My animals are my life:" Woman says her dog was stolen by her former landlord
MARION COUNTY, Oregon -- An Oregon woman says her landlord stole her dog after she moved out of a home owned by the woman. The dog hasn't been found, and neither has the woman officials say is responsible for the theft.
"I'm a huge animal person. My animals are my life," Katelin Taylor said.
Unable to fight back the tears, Taylor said her whippet named Isis was stolen on Wednesday morning, April 27th near Turner, Oregon.
"She is a fantastic, fantastic dog and absolutely holds my heart," Taylor said.
Marion County Sheriff's officials say Rose Mary Kempton, who also goes by the name Brooke, is responsible.
"She's a very volatile person," Taylor said.
Taylor says without warning, she was told to move out of a home owned by Kempton. She did just that, but the drama didn't stop there.
"I heard a knock at the front door," Kevin Taylor, Katelin's father said. "I saw an F-250 parked here and it was Brooke at the gate."
Isis went running to the gate.
"She started screaming at me, saying that my daughter Kate had taken her saddle and then she scooped up our dog Isis and threw her in the car," Katelin Taylor said.
Kevin Taylor then jumped on the truck's running board, and he said Kempton sped off.
"I got thrown off with the vehicle. I ended up out in the driveway out here just laying on my side, screaming, in so much pain," Kevin Taylor said.
Kevin suffered rib, hip and shoulder contusions.
"I wanted to get to the dog," Kevin Taylor said.
As for the allegation of a stolen saddle...
"This is a completely bogus accusation," Katelin Taylor said.
Isis hasn't been found.
"I just really want my dog back. I'm ready for all of this to be over and I just want my dog back," Katelin Taylor said.
