"My job was to save him:" Teenager honored by Common Council for his act of heroism

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee teen was honored Wednesday, November 5th for his act of heroism.

15-year-old Joseph Brown was recognized by the Milwaukee Common Council.

Last month, Brown was picking up his younger brother from the school bus when an unattentive driver hit another boy and started dragging him.

Brown jumped in front of the car, and was able to get the driver to stop -- saving the nine-year-old boy's life.

"My job was to save him and that's what I was thinking -- to be a good neighbor and make sure to help to save him as anyone should be able to do," Brown said.

The boy who was hit had a few broken bones and is still recovering.
