Nerves on edge: Faith in one Racine neighborhood seems to be fading away
RACINE (WITI) -- It's been a rough week for one neighborhood in Racine. In sight of where one death took place, police are investigating yet another.
The major crimes unit was called to an apartment building on Erie St. near 3 Mile Rd. on Sunday, March 8th. Neighbors say they are noticing more police coming because more bad things are happening.
Dakoven Brown goes through this block nearly every day. He says a once quiet walk has turned into uneasy steps. Like any father, Brown says he wants to raise his children in a safe neighborhood.
"Like I want to keep them inside until it dies down; until it seems more calm and more neighbor friendly. I'll probably come outside with them," said Brown.
Police have not confirmed who died and how. But neighbor Elizabeth McKinney said it was a friend of hers.
"My prayers go out to her family, her children. She had three children and that's the sad part of it. She's gone to another place," said McKinney.
