New Berlin police want to speak with man following "suspicious incident" involving young girl
NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police say they're looking to talk with a man following a "suspicious incident" that occurred on Tuesday, December 2nd shortly after 8:00 a.m.
Police say they took a report of an attempted child abduction in the area of Salentine Drive and Calhoun Road in the city of New Berlin.
During an investigation, police learned a suspicious man driving a silver and blue Honda Accord (last seen traveling eastbound on Salentine Drive from Calhoun Road) waved and slowed down, coming to a stop as he approached a six-year-old girl who was waiting for the school bus at the end of her driveway.
Police say the girl initially told her mother the man asked her to "come here," but later told police the man didn't speak to her at all.
The man drove away as the girl's mother exited the home, and as the school bus was approaching.
Police say the man never opened his car door or exited his car.
He's described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s with dark hair. He was wearing a dark knit cap. He was seen smoking a cigarette and it appeared the back seat of his vehicle was filled with numerous clothing items.
Police wish to speak with this man due to the lack of conversation between him and the young girl. Police say they are investigating this case as a "suspicious person/vehicle."
Anyone with any information on this matter is asked to call the New Berlin Police Department at (262) 782-6640.
