New neighborhoods included in city investment program
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Three Milwaukee neighborhoods will be part of a city program to repair and renovate houses. It's called the "Target Investment Neighborhood" program (TIN).
The neighborhoods added to the list this year are Pulaski Park, St. Joseph's and Martin Dr.
In the program, the city makes loans up to $30,000 available – in some cases partially forgivable loans – for home repairs and improvements in TIN neighborhoods. It also works with neighborhood partners to advance community improvement projects.
"It's a program that really encourages responsible ownership, responsible landlordship, and it improves the exterior of the neighborhoods as well. So, we are very, very excited to have these three great neighborhoods join the other neighborhoods that are already part of the program," said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
In the past, TIN projects have included community gardens, neighborhood signage, temporary art installations, and alley lighting projects. Mayor Barrett says around 600 homeowners have taken part in the program.
