Not so cold: Investigation into missing Kelly Dwyer case to continue with massive search

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Exclusive information on one of Milwaukee's biggest mysteries -- what happened to Kelly Dwyer. Dwyer is the young woman who went missing in October of 2013.

Kelly Dwyer

Tony Dwyer, father of Kelly Dwyer, tells FOX6 News this case is far from cold and it will soon be heating up in a big way.

"It's a parents worst nightmare and a living hell," said Tony Dwyer.

That nightmare continues for Tony Dwyer, despite the fact the missing posters have faded away.

The living hell still burns, despite the fact Kriss Zocco, the man last seen with Kelly Dwyer, is behind bars on a child pornography conviction.

"There is no closure at this point until we find Kelly's body," said Tony Dwyer.

Tony Dwyer says the family is still in close communication with Milwaukee police, the ground is thawing and there will be movement on a case that is far from cold.

"We want Kelly to have a normal funeral and give the family to have an opportunity to say goodbye in a proper way," said Tony Dwyer.

Kris Zocco

In May, there are plans for massive searches complete with search dogs and volunteers.

"We'll be pushing ahead with the largest search that we can possibly get in areas that are significant areas," said Tony Dwyer.

The searches will take place in three separate areas, some of them remote areas. The search organizers don't want to announce exactly where they will be. They want to searches to be organized efforts, going grid by grid basis.

"We're never going to stop. At this point, we are going to pursue this death investigation and some of the promising information we have put together with police," said Tony Dwyer.

Milwaukee police have the last place where Kelly Dwyer was seen -- going to Kris Zocco's apartment. The last one known to see her alive, Zocco, who Dwyer had a relationship with.

The searches will focus on areas outside Milwaukee where Zocco may have been during the critical times after Kelly went missing.

"There are professionals who will be helping us and the ultimate thing we're going to look for is Kelly," said Tony Dwyer.

Organizers will be asking for help from the community with the searches. They plan to announce how volunteers can help at the end of this month, with searches planned to begin the start of May.
