WAUKESHA CO. (WITI) -- Waukesha County Sheriff’s officials say 43-year-old Donald Berry has been caught. He was arrested just before 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24th.
At 7:48 a.m., the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department responded to a citizen report of a person that matched the description of Donald Berry in the area of Townline Road and Garrett Drive in the Town of Vernon. Several Sheriff’s squads responded to the area and set up a perimeter. Berry was then seen running north on Guthrie Road. When confronted by Sheriff’s deputies, Berry refused to comply with orders and continued to run.
Berry was again given several more warnings to stop but continued to run east on Glengarry Road and then north through a yard.
After repeatedly ignoring deputies' orders and continuing to evade law enforcement, a Sheriff’s K9 was deployed to apprehend Berry. Waukesha County Sheriff K9 “Soldier,” handled by Deputy Brad Schuenemann, successfully and safely apprehended Berry.
It is believed that Berry remained outside in that area for the last several days. He was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital where he is being medically cleared for the jail.
Berry was wanted for a parole violation out of Springfield, Illinois — and a warrant out of Rockford, Illinois for assault. He has a warrant out of Waukesha for obstructing. Sheriff’s officials say Berry has a history of violent behavior that includes aggravated assault, aggravated battery, armed robbery and home invasion.
