Oak Creek Community Center hosts community-wide Thanksgiving meal
OAK CREEK -- Alyssa Stuiber and her mother operate an event planning service called "Elegant Times," and plan to feed some 500 guests during the Oak Creek Community Center's Seventh Annual "Evening of Blessing Thanksgiving Dinner" on Wednesday night, November 21st. About 120 volunteers spent early Wednesday making last minute preparations for what they call a labor of love.
"We try to do a very high-class type of thing. We come in white and black with servers very, very professional," Stuiber said.
Rich Duchniak is the Community Center's Director and said he was looking forward to Wednesday night's dinner.
"It's a special day. All of our guests that are here are special as well. We put our best foot forward. It's china, silverware, water glasses, linen napkins, holiday centerpiece arrangements at all the tables," Duchniak said.
The dinner is open to anyone, but guest tend to be seniors, those without families and those in need of a quality, community Thanksgiving meal.
"There is a segment of the community that can't afford a big meal, to go out for a meal or to provide a big meal for their family. We're happy to provide that service," Duchniak said.
