Oak Creek man's quick action keeps temple shooting victim alive

OAK CREEK -- A holy book is read for 48 hours as the healing process really begins. Temple member Sukhal Gill explains, "It's a book that tells you how to live your life. Living as a saint-soldier is what is preached. Be a saint when you live, but be a soldier when there's a need."

It's a fitting description of Jim Haase, a military veteran,  who lived behind the temple.  Hasse was in the right place, and heard the gunshots inside his home. Moments later Santokh Singh was outside his garage. Haase says, "I opened the garage door up, and he was blood soaked and he ad a long white tunic on. He was blood soaked, and he was stomach shot from the side."

The reluctant hero is happy he knew how to help Singh. "I don't know what to say yet. I just hope everyone, the survivors, get better," says Haase.
