Occupants of two apartment units in Racine being assisted by Red Cross after fire

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine Fire officials say the occupants of two apartment units are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross following a fire Sunday, February 8th.

It happened in the 1800 block of Roosevelt Avenue shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Fire officials say the occupants of the unit where the fire originated were not home at the time.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire that is believed to have originated in a living room wall.

The apartment unit below the unit where the fire originated had its ceiling collapse due to the water used to put out the fire.

The fire caused $18,000 in damage to the structure, and $12,000 in damage to contents.
