'Offering a diverse lineup of artists:' Summerfest announces 2019 headliner lineup
MILWAUKEE -- It's the reveal Milwaukee music fans wait for. Summerfest presented by American Family Insurance announced Tuesday morning, April 9 the ground stage headliners.
Bob Babisch
"It's pretty fun for us -- and then to see the response is always important to us," said Bob Babisch, Summerfest Entertainment Director.
Festival organizers try to have something for everyone. This year, even something to make you laugh.
"Lonely Island, the comedy troop, I think that's my favorite one actually with Andy Samberg," said Babisch.
And this year, it's not just the music that will be different. The first phase of the new American Family Insurance Amphitheater is expected to be complete in time for this year's festival.

"A roof that's twice the height as what it was before, a flat floor all the way out to row T, so we can put thrusts and pits whatever any artist wants to put in," said Babisch.
Construction during the first phase of the American Family Insurance Amphitheater features improvements to the infrastructure and back-of-house areas, including the raising of a portion of the current roof from 36’ to 65’ feet, in addition to the following: a removable stage and flat floor seating in front of the stage, 19 state-of-the-art dressing rooms, new production spaces, dining/catering facilities, nine loading docks, and six new high-definition LED walls throughout the venue.
Immediately following Summerfest, construction will resume on the second phase of work which includes new food and beverage options and hospitality areas, added concourse space, new and remodeled restrooms, increased ADA accessibility, and a newly configured seating bowl which will maintain the same seating capacity.
The grand opening is scheduled for Summerfest 2020.
