Officials identify victims of Hwy. 41 crash in Town of Polk
WASHINGTON CO. -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office identified on Wednesday, August 22nd, the victims of a car crash on Highway 41 in the Town of Polk.
39-year-old Timothy Jerdee of Fond du Lac died from injuries in the crash. 38-year-old Helen Woznick of Fond du Lac survived the wreck. Woznick remains hospitalized at the Milwaukee County Medical Complex in Wauwatosa.
The crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21st.
The preliminary investigation suggests the crashed vehicle had been southbound on Highway 41 (in the left lane), when for an unknown reason(s), the vehicle left the roadway, entered the grassy median, rolled over and came to rest in the left lane of Highway 41 northbound.
Both northbound and southbound Highway 41 were closed and/or restricted for approximately 2.5 hours to facilitate rescue, investigative and clean-up operations.
Both victims were thrown from the vehicle -- so it's not clear to investigators which was driving the vehicle.
