Officials: Man dies at Lake Beulah after jumping from pontoon boat
WALWORTH COUNTY -- The state DNR is investigating a death that occurred on Lake Beulah in Walworth County on Saturday evening, August 15th.
A conservation warden with the DNR tells FOX6 News, the victim in this case was apparently a passenger on a double-deck pontoon boat. The boat was taking part in an event called the Lake Beulah Tie-up.
Witness statements indicate shortly before 8 p.m., a man tried to jump off the upper level of the boat -- and struck one of the smaller boats that was tied-up to the pontoon.
"Just watching him have fun yesterday watching him do something he's done 500 times before and it just went wrong. Sad it's a sad sad thing," said Tyler Hensel, witness.
Officials say while there was alcohol consumption present at the event, it's unclear whether the victim had consumed any.
The name of the victim is being withheld until family is notified.
