WAUWATOSA (WITI) —Froedtert Hospital officials released a statement Friday, April 5th reassuring the general public, visitors and staff that they are not at risk of developing tuberculosis. The statement comes one day after a hospital spokesperson announced that a single case of very early stage tuberculosis was recently diagnosed at Froedtert Hospital.
In a statement Froedtert Hospital's Associate Chief Medical Officer said:
I want to emphasize there is no risk to the general public, visitors, staff or to other patients receiving care at Froedtert Hospital.
There is no need for patients to be concerned. Appointments and procedures at the hospital are continuing as scheduled.
Patients and staff who may have been exposed already have been notified. Although their risk of developing TB is extremely low, they will be offered free testing as a precaution.
The individual is receiving treatment at home and is expected to fully recover.
