Officials still seeking serial bank robber, wanted in nine robberies

GERMANTOWN -- A man who robbed the M&I Bank in Germantown on Monday, July 9th was still on the loose as of Tuesday, and now, investigators say they believe the man is responsible for other robberies across the state.

Police say a man walked into the M&I Bank just before 3:00 p.m. Monday, and obtained an undetermined amount of cash. Officials say no weapon was displayed.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect, and say they believe he is responsible for a string of robberies at banks in Kenosha, West Bend, Fond du Lac, Richfield, Hartford, Westfield, Oconomowoc and now, Germantown -- a total of nine bank robberies.

"He's definitely a problem and he definitely needs to be caught.  Obviously, bank robbery is a desperate act, and we want to get him in custody before he does anything to harm anybody," Germantown Police Chief Peter Hoell said.

No one has been injured in any of the incidents thus far, but officials want the suspect caught.

"We're concerned as to what level he'll go to get the money," Chief Hoell said.

A joint reward of up to $8,500 for information leading to the suspect's arrest and conviction is being offered by the Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) with the help of Johnson Bank and the National Exchange Bank and Trust.
