One dead, nine hurt after crash involving car, motorcycles
TOWN OF TAYCHEEDAH -- One person is dead, another nine hurt after a crash involving a car and a dozen motorcycles in the Town of Taycheedah. A 25-year-old driver heading southbound crossed the center line, and collided with the motorcyclists.
The crash happened on Highway 151 near Gladstone Beach Rd. just before 3 p.m. in Fond du Lac County Thursday, May 31st.
Investigators says the motorcyclists, who are apparently from Michigan, were riding in a pack heading north on Hwy. 151 when a car heading south crossed the center line and slammed into the bikes. The car apparently hit 10 of the 12 motorcycles in the group.
Five ambulances and three medical helicopters were called to the scene.
Many of the victims in this crash were flown by Flight for Life to Theda Clark Hospital in Appleton. More were taken to St. Agnes Hospital. At least three of the victims are in critical condition -- including the driver of the car.
The 25-year-old from Calumet County will be placed under arrest as soon as he's released from the hospital. He's being taken in for felony bail jumping on a case from Calumet County, and homicide by negligent operation.
Part of Highway 151 was closed temporarily while crews reconstructed the crash.
