One killed another injured from shooting: "It was basically like a drive by"
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A young man and father of two is dead after what witnesses are calling a drive by shooting on Milwaukee's north side.
The intersection at 16th St. and North Ave. is blocked, just as an investigation into a double shooting opens.
"It was basically like a drive by," said Kerissa Riser, victim's friend.
Witnesses say it was just after 9:00 p.m. when a group of friends just came back from a nearby store. Just then, shots rang out.
"There were gunshots, people running, kids running," said Riser. "It was this truck with rims on it like a Chevy truck and they just start shooting, it was two cars with a whole bunch of guys in it."
Bullets flew hitting a victim who was taken to the hospital. But a 21-year-old man affectionately known as Lil Ray was struck and killed.
"He collapsed in the alley like right behind that building over there," said Kyle Weary, friend of victim.
"I tried to revive him but couldn`t save him," said Jarvis Jackson, victim's friend.
Jackson's actions couldn't save the father of two.
"He just had his baby out here, I just had his baby in my hands," said Weary.
Weary can't help but think of the innocent lives who were put in harms way and friends are saddened another life was taken on Milwaukee's streets.
"He was a good guy though he didn't mess with anyone I just hate that they took his life for nothing," said Riser.
Jackson is hoping to turn this tragedy into a wake-up call.
"I try to keep everything as positive as possible because I'm a positive role model. I just try to tell these people to go to school and do the right things, as you see these ain`t the answers," said Jackson.
The other victim involved in the shooting is expected to survive. Police do not have any suspects in custody at this time and are not releasing a motive for the shooting.
