One killed in crash involving milk hauler and vehicle in Darien

WALWORTH COUNTY (WITI) -- One person was killed in a crash involving a semi and a car that occurred on Highway 11 east of Old 89 Road in the Town of Darien on Tuesday, February 26th.

The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Upon arrival, deputies found two vehicles had come to rest in the westbound lane of Highway 11.

The two vehicles involved were a westbound 2010 Kenworth semi-truck milk hauler and an eastbound vehicle.

Officials say the eastbound vehicle lost control on the snow-covered road and slid into the westbound lane of Highway 11.  The milk hauler struck the vehicle broadside on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The driver and sole occupant of the eastbound vehicle was killed upon impact.  The Walworth County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene. He is not being identified at this time pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the milk hauler is identified as 31-year-old Michael Forstrom of Brooklyn, WI.  He was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

The investigation into this crash is ongoing.
