"Operation Dodgeball" sex offender checks lead Dodge Co. Sheriff's detectives to marijuana grow operation
DODGE COUNTY (WITI) -- Dodge County Sheriff's officials, along with U.S. Marshals took part in "Operation Dodgeball" between July 7th and July 11th. During "Operation Dodgeball," members of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service conducted in-person compliance checks of 149 sex offenders within Dodge County. 138 of them were located, and found to be in compliance. Now, we're learning that during "Operation Dodgeball," Sheriff's officials learned of a marijuana growing operation.
On Tuesday, July 15th, while conducting follow up sex offender registry address verification checks, Dodge County Sheriff's detectives detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from a residence in the Town of Shields.
A search warrant was obtained, and upon being served, the detectives found an indoor marijuana growing operation -- with plants being grown outside.
The detectives also found processed marijuana, money and a quantity of pills obtained without a prescription at the residence.
The plants, drugs, money, paraphernalia, and instruments of the growing process were seized by members of the Dodge County Sheriff's Office and Dodge County Drug Task Force.
A 52-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were taken into custody. Charges are pending.
