OTTAWA, Wis. - A man was rescued after he fell through lake ice in Waukesha County on Saturday morning, Dec. 14.
According to the Western Lakes Fire District, it happened around 9 a.m. on Pretty Lake in the town of Ottawa. Nearby fishermen threw the man a rope and pulled him out of the water before taking him to a vehicle to warm up.

The man was later taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, the fire district said.
Western Lakes said, earlier this week, first responders were on the ice to train with hovercraft and rescue equipment. The district said ice conditions are unstable throughout the area due to the large number of springs, as well as flowing water from rivers and streams that connect to lakes.
