Over $30,000 raised through FOX6 News/Red Cross Sandy relief phone bank
MILWAUKEE -- More Milwaukee-area American Red Cross volunteers headed for the East Coast Wednesday, October 31st to provide Sandy relief.
FOX6 News caught up with the group flying out of Mitchell International Airport Wednesday afternoon. They are headed for Philadelphia and will then rent a car to drive to New Brunswick, New Jersey.
The volunteers will be gone for two weeks, and said they're excited to help out.
"If I'm able to help somebody -- if I have anything that I can offer to help these people that are so much in need right now, I really want to do that," Red Cross volunteer Judy Loth said.
A total of 72 volunteers from Wisconsin are either already on the east coast or left Wednesday. Several more volunteers are being called to leave within the next several days.
Meanwhile, a FOX6 News/American Red Cross Sandy relief phone bank held Tuesday, October 30th raised over $30,000!
