Ozaukee County fatal crash on I-43
One person is dead following a crash on southbound I-43 at Pioneer Road in Ozaukee County.
OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. - One person is dead following a crash on southbound I-43 near Lakefield Road in the Town of Grafton on Wednesday morning, Aug. 17. The crash happened shortly before 2 a.m.
According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, a 2016 International semi tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on I-43 when it was rear ended by a 2010 Ford Focus that was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The semi tractor-trailer was driven by a 59-year-old man from the City of Milwaukee. The Ford Focus was driven by a 34-year-old man from the Village of Grafton. The driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced dead at the scene.

I-43 southbound was temporarily closed for approximately 4.5 hours while the crash reconstruction was being conducted. The crash remains under investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
