MILWAUKEE-- The Milwaukee Brewers and Major League Baseball are making a change aimed at making it safer for fans to go to a game. The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball recommends all major league clubs add or extend the safety netting to shield fans from line-drive foul balls. One Milwaukee Brewer's fan thinks it's a great idea after a foul ball this past summer, sent her to the hospital.

It's easy to see fans and even the players' concern after a foul ball was sent into the stands.
"I didn't hear it happen, I didn't feel it happen," said Laura Turek.
But that ball hit Brewers fan, Laura Turek, in the head.
"I remember saying something to my girlfriend sitting next to me and all the sudden my eyes closed," said Turek.

She was rushed out of the ballpark and to the hospital.
"I didn't realize I had three fractures, I didn't realize it was going to affect my eye so it was a lot more intense than I ever even fathomed," said Turek.
Turek has already had two surgeries and another on Friday. The doctors reconstructed her face but she has nerve loss and vision loss in her left eye.
Laura Turek's injuries
Despite all that, Turek feels blessed.
"I'm here. I could be dead right now and that's what keeps me going and keeps me positive," Turek said.
She's also pleased to hear Major League Baseball is making some changes to keeping fans safe.
"Anything to give people more reaction time and anything like that makes it better," said Turek.
The Commissioner of Baseball issued a recommendation to all MLB clubs to implement or maintain netting that will shield from line-drive foul balls in all field-level seats that are located between the near ends of both dugouts and within 70-feet of home plate.
"So if they extend the net, you know at least to the end of the dugout than I think people will have time to react and see the ball coming or know the ball is coming," said Turek.
The new nets at Miller Park will be in place for Opening Day.
As for Laura Turek, she is still a Brewers fan and plans to attend a game next season but this time, she says she'll be sitting somewhere different.
