Man rescued from Pike Lake

The sheriff's office got a call around 1 p.m. Wednesday about a person yelling for help about 100 yards off the shore.

A 65-year-old man was rescued Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 30 after falling into Pike Like.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office got a call around 1 p.m. on Wednesday about a person yelling for help about 100 yards off the shore of Pike Lake Beach.

A dive team and Hartford Fire and Rescue were called to the scene. Flight for Life was put on standby, too.

According to Hartford Fire and Rescue, the man had been in the water for approximately 40 minutes and was found clinging to ice about 400 yards from shore when first responders arrived around 1:45 p.m.

The 65-year-old was taken to a Washington County Hospital. From there, he was flown via Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

A Hartford firefighter also suffered a significant shoulder injury during the rescue. The firefighter was transported to a hostpial where he was treated and released for future follow-up.
