Planes diverted from O'Hare to Mitchell Airport due to weather
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A spokesman with Mitchell International Airport told FOX6 News Tuesday afternoon, February 26th flights were diverted to Milwaukee's airport from Chicago's O'Hare Airport -- due to the weather.
Airport spokesman Ryan McAdams said depending on the airline, the aircraft will wait in Milwaukee until conditions in Chicago improve, when they would then fly to Chicago -- or passengers will travel to Chicago via bus.
Flight 2338 to O'Hare from Dallas was one of the flights grounded at Mitchell Airport Tuesday.
"This is why I don't fly through Chicago -- a little aggravated," one traveler told FOX6 News.
Ironically, most on this flight were in the Lone Star state for a snowmobile expo.
"We prefer to have this weather outside in Quebec. We need some to do snowmobiling over there but there's no snow there. It's ridiculous ," one traveler said.
"Our plane's not going anywhere so we just grabbed our bags and we got a car coming for us," another traveler said.
The weather provided a perfect opportunity for Eric Strutz to put his new hat to use -- a souvenir from Texas that could shield his head from the snow.
