Police arrest convicted felon just minutes after armed robbery at Walgreens near 35th & Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police were able to arrest a convicted felon just minutes after an armed robbery at a Walgreens store on the city's west side.

Police responded to the Walgreens store near 35th and Wisconsin Avenue around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 10th.

An employee told officers a man came up to the register with items and pointed a knife at her before fleeing the store with those items.

Ten minutes later, officers on patrol near 33rd and State saw a man matching the description of the suspect. The man was stopped and several of the stolen items were found in a Walgreens bag the man dropped.

Police were able to recover the knife they believe was used in the armed robbery in a snow bank.

Police say the suspect is a 49-year-old Milwaukee man. He is a convicted felon with a criminal record dating back to 1990.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
