Police arrest individuals with warrants near Sheboygan school
SHEBOYGAN (WITI) -- Sheboygan police say they were able to locate individuals with warrants for their arrest on Tuesday, June 11th near Longfellow Middle School.
A patrol officer observed a vehicle near the school, and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle when the suspects fled from the car.
Police determined at least one of the individuals was a known gang member and may have been armed with a handgun.
A "school carnival" was taking place at the school, and school officials cleared the children, parents and staff from the playground and secured them inside the school.
Within 30 minutes, police officers and detectives had arrested numerous parties involved and the school officials were notified when police supervision believed there was no longer a threat to the school and children.
