Police: Crash in Brown Deer happened after shots were fired between two vehicles

BROWN DEER -- Brown Deer and Milwaukee police are investigating after a crash occurred in Brown Deer early Sunday. Police believe this crash happened after shots were fired by the occupants of two vehicles -- and police believe this incident began in Milwaukee.

Police on Sunday morning, around 1:00 a.m. responded to the area of 60th Street and Bradley Road for a report of shots fired and two vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed.

Minutes later, police received a call for a crash near 60th Street and Fairy Chasm Road.

Upon arrival of officers, it was determined that the crash involved a single vehicle that was headed northbound on N. 60th Street at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and struck two unoccupied vehicles in a driveway in the area.

Two people were inside the striking vehicle.

The driver, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man refused medical treatment at the scene, and was taken into custody.

The passenger, a 31-year-old Milwaukee man was taken to the hospital for treatment, and he is expected to survive.

It is believed this crash is the result of an incident that began in Milwaukee -- when the striking vehicle was being pursued by another vehicle, and shots were fired between both vehicles prior to the crash.

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene to assist with the investigation into this crash.

Brown Deer police and Milwaukee police are working to identify suspects in this case.
