Police: Fort Atkinson father takes 3 children against mother's will, says he's going to China

FORT ATKINSON -- Fort Atkinson police have partnered with federal officials to find a missing family. Jefferson County officials have issued an endangered missing persons alert for a 35-year-old father and his three children, ages 3 months, 3 and 11.

Officials say Hui Zhu took the children against the wishes of their mother (his wife) on Monday, July 23 and they've not been seen since.

Police said Sunday, July 29 information has been received to indicate Zhu may be armed with a firearm. They urged caution if he is encountered, and asked that anyone who sees him or the children dial 911.

Officials say Zhu left with $7,000 cash and the children's birth certificates.

According to police, Zhu -- who also goes by the nickname "Kenny" -- spoke with his wife around 10 a.m. on July 23, and said he was at O'Hare Airport, and was going to take the children to China.

Law enforcement officials confirmed the father and children have not boarded any flights.

According to Zhu's wife, his mental stability has been deteriorating over the past six months.

Authorities described Zhu as a male, Asian, standing 5'9" tall, weighing 130 pounds with black hair and dark eyes. Zhu has a large dragon tattoo on his left upper arm.

Jefferson Zhu, 11, is described as a male, Asian, standing 4'8" tall, weighing 88 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Evelyn Zhu, 3, is described as a female, Asian, standing 3'8" tall, weighing 50 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Elina Zhu, 3 months, is described as a female, Asian, standing 2'0" tall, weighing 14 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Officials believe Hui Zhu is driving a white, 2015 Ford F-150 with Wisconsin plates LH4873. The last known location of the vehicle was in the State of West Virginia on Wednesday, July 25.

FOX6 News spoke with the children's mother on Sunday -- who declined to comment.
