Police: Ice fisher found trapped inside Mount Pleasant pond
MOUNT PLEASANT -- An ice fisher had to be rescued after becoming trapped in a Mount Pleasant pond early Friday afternoon, Dec. 14.
The South Shore Fire Department responded to a report of two people that fell through the ice in the pond near S. Airline Road and Washington Avenue around 1:40 p.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was determine one person got out on their own.
A trooper threw an ice rescue rope throw bag to the other person, and that person held onto the rope until fire officials arrived. They found the person in the water, hanging onto the rope and ice. That person was rescued.
Officials said one person was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
The other person refused transport.
