Police identify victims of murder-suicide at Milwaukee business

MILWAUKEE -- The victims of a murder-suicide at Trans-Coil International in Milwaukee late Thursday have been identified. The manager who was killed is identified as 58-year-old George Hites. They say the suspect who shot Hites and then took his own life is 23-year-old Thaiv Xiong.

The incident happened just after 6 p.m. Thursday, August 2nd in the manufacturing plant of Trans-Coil International on the Milwaukee’s north side. Police say Xiong shot Hites multiple times before turning the gun on himself.

Hites worked for TCI for the past 25 years. He was the second-shift supervisor. Hites planned to retire with his wife up north in just three years.

"He went to work, and an employee came into the office and shot him. Shot seven times. the employee says he wrote hin up and he was upset about it, just shot him," said J.R. Hites, George's brother.

Hites is survived by his wife, two children and six grandchildren.

Steven Copp, the President & CEO of Trans-Coil International, released the following statement Friday afternoon:

    Trans-Coil International makes electronics, including those used in filters for industrial work or companies. It employs more than 90 workers. Counselors were on hand to talk with each of them Friday if needed.
