Police in West Bend arrest 37-year-old motorcyclist, accused of seventh OWI offense
WEST BEND (WITI) -- Police say early Sunday morning, May 17th, a 37-year-old man was arrested for his seventh OWI while operating his motorcycle in West Bend.
Just before 1:30 a.m., police attempted to stop the motorcyclist in the 200 block of S. Main Street for an ordinance violation.
As the officer approached the motorcyclist, he sped off.
A pursuit ensued and speeds exceeding 50 miles-per-hour.
After a short pursuit, the motorcycle's operator stopped the motorcycle at the dead end on Water Street. He then fled on foot.
Officers located the motorcyclist behind a storage building near the Samaritan Health Center on Washington Street. He was placed under arrest for fleeing.
Police say the man displayed signs of intoxication and was charged with operating while intoxicated.
The man has six previous OWI convictions. He was last convicted of OWI in September 2014.
