Police investigate assault that occurred inside Pitney Bowes in Brown Deer
BROWN DEER (WITI) -- Brown Deer Police are investigating an assault that occurred inside Pitney Bowes early Monday morning, September 16th. Police say there is now an ongoing investigation into possible domestic violence.
It happened at the business near Deerbrook and Deerwood in Brown Deer.
"We kinda saw cops swarming around the back of our office and swarming in and around this area," Tanya Evers said.
Police say it is unclear how badly the victim was hurt or what prompted the attack, but investigators say the victim worked at Pitney Bowes and they are now looking into whether it was an act of domestic violence.
"For me it's a little uncomfortable. It kinda reminds you of the Azana Spa shooting because you never exactly know where a person's head is," Evers said.
One year ago, Radcliffe Haughton walked into Brookfield's Azana Salon & Spa armed with weapons and the will to murder. He tried setting the business on fire, and shot and killed three people including his estranged wife, before killing himself.
It was an act of fatal domestic violence.
Haughton had run-ins with the Brown Deer Police Department, and lived in Brown Deer where his home was searched in the investigation.
As for Monday's incident, police would not comment on whether threats were made to other workers, but said there will be a police presence at or near the building on Tuesday morning.
"I think it's a good thing because I think a lot of times this business park is forgotten," Evers said.
