Police investigating two overnight stabbings, one fatal

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Shootings and knife attacks highlight a violent weekend in Milwaukee. There were two stabbing incidents in different parts of the city overnight Saturday, April 6th -- one of them fatal.

Neighbors say 58-year-old Carlos Diaz was stabbed to death near 7th and Madison.

Neighbors say Diaz was a jokester and a goofball. Police took a 19-year-old man into custody in connection with this stabbing -- whom neighbors say is the step-son of Diaz.

Meanwhile, police say a domestic dispute ended in a stabbing near 30th and Courtland Avenue on the north side.

"He was beating her. Had blood all over her shirt, baby in her arms and stuff," a neighbor told FOX6 News.

Neighbors say it started with a man beating up a female, but it ended with a 40-year-old Milwaukee man in critical condition at the hospital, with multiple stab wounds.

A neighbor told FOX6 News the son of the victim's girlfriend pulled out the knife.

People inside the home say the man is doing better -- but provided no details as to what led up to this incident.

Police say a person of interest is in custody.
