MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are searching for 30-year-old Jose Luis Discua-Bados, who has been charged with first degree intentional homicide in the death of his wife, 24-year-old Dayana Bados around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 2800 block of S. 13th Street.
Police dispatched to the scene Tuesday say Dayana suffered multiple stab wounds to her upper back and neck area, and three severe cuts to the top of her head. Dayana was pronounced dead at the scene.
The criminal complaint in the case says officials at the scene spoke with Dayana's grandmother, who said Dayana was leaving for work early Tuesday morning, and came downstairs to visit with her before leaving. Dayana's grandmother told officials Dayana left to warm up her vehicle, and shortly thereafter, Dayana's grandmother heard her say "Luis, no." Dayana's grandmother told officials she looked out the window and saw Discua-Bados beating Dayana in the head and shoulder with a large board. Dayana's grandmother said she was screaming at the man to stop beating Dayana, when she saw Dayana fall to the ground, facing down, and Discua-Bados continued to beat her. Dayana's grandmother said she told Discua-Bados she was going to call police, and Discua-Bados ran to the south side of the home, and returned with a knife. Dayana's grandmother said Discua-Bados then began stabbing Dayana in the back of the head and neck area with the knife, while Dayana's grandmother continued screaming for him to stop.
Dayana's grandmother told officials that Discua-Bados is the estranged husband of Dayana, and that for years, Discua-Bados has been abusing Dayana. Dayana's grandmother said Discua-Bados had been deported to Honduras, and then had come back into the country and Dayana feared for her safety, causing her to move in with her grandmother.
An autopsy done on Dayana revealed 12 stab wounds to her back and right neck. The Medical Examiner's report also says she suffered blunt force trauma to her head.
