Police: Report of possible attempted child abduction in Menomonee Falls 'unfounded'
MENOMONEE FALLS -- Menomonee Falls police are now saying the report of a possible attempted child abduction Thursday, March 21 was "unfounded." The department is no longer attempting to locate a suspect.
Menomonee Falls police on Thursday, March 21 responded to the area of Fond du Lac Avenue and Parkview Drive for the report of a possible attempted child abduction.
Police initially reported that a male subject approached a girl around 4:50 p.m. and attempted to engage in conversation -- asking several personal questions. Police say the child did not engage in conversation and attempted to leave the area. At that time, the subject briefly put his hands on the child's upper arm and shoulder area.
The child was able to run away and safely return home. The subject did not attempt to follow her.
According to police, upon further investigation of this incident, it was determined that this report was unfounded.
"This incident should still cause parents to have conversations with their children with regards to personal protective measures, pre-planned reactions to suspicious persons, and to always be aware of your surroundings," the Menomonee Falls Police Department said.
