Police: Strong-armed robbery suspect arrested within minutes of committing crime

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police arrested a strong-armed robbery suspect just minutes after he robbed a victim on Milwaukee’s northwest side on Saturday, April 25th.

Officers responded to the call in the 4600 block of W. Hampton Avenue around 5:25 p.m. The victim, a 66-year-old Milwaukee man, told officers the suspect approached him, struck him in the face, and stole money from his pockets before fleeing from the scene.

Nearby officers heard the dispatched call and saw a person matching the description of the suspect in the 4200 block of W. Hampton Avenue. A witness also approached officers and identified the suspect as the one who committed the crime.

Officers took the suspect, an 18-year-old Milwaukee man, into custody and found the stolen money on him. MPD will present charges against the suspect to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
