Police: Two women wounded in separate violent incidents in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating incidents in which women were hurt in violence on Friday evening, October 14th.

Around 6:00 p.m., officials say a stabbing occurred near 14th and Atkinson. The victim, a 43-year-old woman, was involved in an argument with a known subject during which she received a serious stab wound. She was taken to a hospital where she is expected to survive. The suspect is not yet in custody.

Then around 7:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the neighborhood near 19th and Brown Streets. Shots were fired during a disturbance two blocks from the shooting scene. One of those rounds struck a 56-year-old woman inside of her residence. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of what is believed to be a non-life threatening injury. At this time. police believe the victim was not related or the target of the shooting.
