SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan police and sheriff's officials responded to a woman being assaulted in the area of Najacht Road and Mill Road Wednesday afternoon, May 23rd around 1:00 pl.m.
Officers learned the incident started as a verbal argument between a 19-year-old suspect and the 20-year-old woman over relationship problems and escalated into the boyfriend battering the woman and threatening her with a knife.
Officials say the suspect fled into the woods by the Pigeon River Trail when witnesses heard the woman screaming for help.
The suspect fled the area on foot, but was eventually located at a residence by police.
The man was arrested for various charges, including reckless endangering, false imprisonment and battery, along with a probation hold. The man was taken to jail.
The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of various cuts and bruises sustained during the incident, and later released.
