Pond drained at Brookfield Lakes condo complex as authorities seek evidence from 2018 homicide
TOWN OF BROOKFIELD -- Crime scene tape surrounds a pond at the Brookfield Lakes condominium complex in the Town of Brookfield on Monday, April 15.
The Waukesha County Search and Recovery team are on the scene -- and have a mobile command center set up. Officials drained the pond that is surrounded by the tape.
Officials tells FOX6 News they are looking for evidence from a homicide case from Nov. 18, 2018. The victim in that case was Madeline Kim.
Sunkeun Kim
Sunkeun Kim faces one count of first degree intentional homicide and two counts of felony bail jumping -- filed in November 2018 -- in connection with Madeline Kim's death.
An autopsy revealed she'd been strangled to death and suffered blunt force trauma to the head. Her roommate found her body on the floor in her bedroom on Nov. 18, 2018. The roommate reported Madeline Kim had been last seen on Nov. 15, 2018.
Madeline Kim's mother indicated Sunkeun Kim moved about $23,000 out of the joint bank account for Madeline and Sunkeun during the first week of November, and noted that her daughter was "scared of Sunkeun" and "afraid he would kill her."
Madeline Kim filed for divorce on Oct. 29, 2018, and told investigators Sunkeun Kim had threatened to kill her, the dog and himself, and showed investigators pictures from late August when he physically assaulted her during an argument about finances.
