President Obama arrives in Milwaukee for campaign rallies
MILWAUKEE -- Air Force One and President Barack Obama arrived in Milwaukee for a couple of campaign events shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 22nd.
President Obama left Mitchell International Airport after briefly shaking hands on the tarmac. He first appeared at a private campaign fundraiser at the Milwaukee Theatre in downtown Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee Theatre used to be called the Milwaukee Auditorium. It was built in 1909 -- and on October 14, 1912, former president and then current presidential candidate Teddy Roosevelt was shot by John Schrank across the street from the Auditorium. Roosevelt, who was shot in the chest, declined medical attention until he had delivered his speech.
President Obama's second stop while in Milwaukee was at Henry Maier Festival Park, where he spoke at a free event, open to the public. Obama spoke at the outdoor BMO Harris Pavillion.
