GREENFIELD (WITI) -- He might be one of the safest drivers in the country -- and he calls Greenfield home. Now, this letter carrier is receiving a high honor for his time behind the wheel.
When Bill Narlock was a young man, all he wanted was a steady job. There were a lot of places he could probably work, but he banked on one being around for the long haul. Narlock was just 19 years old in 1969 when he got a job with the U.S. Postal Service.
45 years later, Narlock has driven an estimated two million miles with the U.S.P.S. without a single accident.
"The people out there that I serve are always the nicest people you'd ever want to meet," said Narlock. "And it's just a fantastic job; weather and all."
Officials say it's rare to have a letter carrier drive a million miles without an accident -- two million miles is practically unheard of.
