Racine Co. Sheriff's Office to place more deputies on roadway
RACINE (WITI) -- In an effort to reach zero deaths on Wisconsin roadways the Racine County Sheriff's Office has received traffic grants to place additional deputies on the road to enforce speed violations, increase seatbelt usage and attempt to deter drunk driving.
The annual Click It Or Ticket National Mobilization was conducted from May 20th through June 2nd and the Racine County Sheriff's Office had additional personnel on the roadways during various times of the day and night during that program.
During these deployments the following citations and arrests were made: 93 speed citations, 81 seatbelt citations, 11 operating after suspension/revocation, 6 operating without a driving license, 7 operating while intoxicated, 1 absolute sobriety, 1 open intoxicants, 14 unregistered vehicles, 18 operating without insurance, 1 texting while driving, 31 various written warnings for vehicle defects, 1 felony possession heroin, 2 felony possession of marijuana, and 3 obstructing arrests plus several people taken into custody on outstanding warrants.
