What we know:

When deputies arrived at the scene, they removed the unresponsive driver from the Civic. The deputies used fire extinguishers from their squad cars to put out the fire in the Civic.

The driver was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to the hospital. Later, the driver was transported by Flight For Life to Froedtert Hospital where she is being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

Deputies determined that a Ram Pickup truck was hauling a large aluminum trailer full of work tools, and the truck was traveling westbound on CTH KR. The Civic was traveling northbound on US 45.  The pickup truck failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and T-boned the Civic.

The pickup and trailer turned upon impact and collided with a telephone pole on the northwest corner of the intersection.

The trailer separated from the pickup truck, rolled, and came to rest upside-down. The Civic got pushed off the roadway northwest of the intersection and started on fire.

What's next:

At the conclusion of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) will issue the appropriate citations to the operator of the pickup truck.
