Racine firefighter injured in fire at home on Sixth Street; Red Cross assisting occupants
RACINE -- A Racine firefighter was injured while fighting a fire at a home on Sixth Street on Saturday night, December 12th.
It happened around 7:00 p.m.
Calls came in from multiple callers regarding dark smoke and fire showing at the home.
The first crews arrived within three minutes, and quickly extinguished the exterior fire before making an interior attack.
The firefighter who was injured suffered minor injuries. He was treated and released from the hospital.
The majority of the fire damage was contained to the first floor -- with exterior fire extending to the roof. Damage estimates are $25,000 for the structure, and $7,00 for the contents.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
American Red Cross officials will be assisting those who live in the home with housing until after Christmas.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
